Say NO to Monsanto's GE Sugar Beets!

Last August, a Federal court ruled that the USDA's prior approval of GE Sugar Beets was unlawful and further analysis had to be done to measure the impact this Roundup Ready crop had on the environment and on farmers.

Monsanto is now pressuring the USDA to approve the GE Sugar Beets AGAIN, even though the court-ordered environmental assessment isn't going to be complete until 2012!

Monsanto's a bully, but we didn't think they would try to trump Federal Court.

If you would like to send a letter of support to Judge White, who ordered the destruction of the GMO Sugar Beet crops in OR and AZ, please send your notes here:
US District Court Northern Dist. of CA
Judge Jeffery S. White
450 Golden Gate Ave.
San Fransisco, CA 94102

We've got till December 6th to say NO WAY.  SIGN TODAY!!!

I am writing to strongly oppose USDA's proposal to allow the commercial planting and sale of of genetically engineered, "Roundup Ready" sugar beets before the agency has completed the court-ordered review of that crop's impacts (Docket No. APHIS-2010-0047).

USDA's proposal violates environmental laws that are meant to ensure that agencies analyze potential environmental and socioeconomic impacts before they take action, not allow those activities to continue under another name while they undertake that analysis. The proposal also violates the law because it allows commercialization under provisions meant only for research, making an end-run around actually making a commercial approval decision.

There have been no long term studies to prove the environmental impact of these genetically More....modified products. We have already seen the socioeconomic damage they have caused to the small American farmer.

10520 Mon Dec 06 23:02:31 EST 2010 Anonymous there is ample evidence of the destructiveness of GMOs and GE animals, etc, not only to human health, but to the ecosystem and the integrity of nature's seeds which are the heritage of all those on this More....earth. any public regulatory agency which fails to recognize these well-documented dangers is either willfully ignorant or shameless corporately- owned, or BOTH. the numbers of folks who are standing up and speaking out because they don't want to eat GMOs, let alone have them UNLABELLED in our grocery stores, is reaching critical mass. ignore them at your own peril. in Europe they burn GM crops in protest. word to the wise.
